Forum Post: Compiler: Static Global Variable optimized out by compiler/linker
Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler Hello, I have an initialized static const global variable which is NOT used anywhere in the code but i would like to keep (dont want it to be optimized out but linker/compiler). I have added the used attribute and the retain pragma but it still does not work. i also tried adding --retain in the linker command file (to see if there is a problem with the pragma) but it did not help either. I am using TDA2xx , the M4 core , compiler version: Ti.16.9.2.LTS [update]: the --keep_unneeded_statics compiler option seem to help but the problem is that this option is a global one and not for a specific variable and i want only a specific variable to be kept Can you please help - why does this work? Thanks Guy

Example : I have created sample CCS project for Controller TMS570LS0714 with main.c file. After successful target creation not possible to flash/debug with controller. Please let me know the solution for the solution for the same.

However, there is big distortion on the output waveforms (marked in red circles) if the input sources are Triangular & Square waves. Would you please check why? Thanks. Ming

Forum Post: RE: Error in adding third party spice models in TINA-TI
Hi Hari, The error is due to lines 14 and 15 from the shared SPICE file. It looks like TINA-TI is expecting an operand after the '+','-' sign of I(Vi+),I(Vi-) respectively. Please rename all instances of Vi+, Vi- to Vi_p and Vi_n respectively. You should be able to import the model after that Regards, Karthik

I have read the question "CCS: Are there any tools to crunch Code Coverage data from .csv files to make reports?" on forum , but i am not the same way with him , i didn't creat a project , i just import tdf file to generate the instruction coverage . Part Number: SN74HC244 Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models Hello. I`m simulating with a SN74HC244 ibis Model on ADS. I found some issue unexpected. here is issue. if Input signal rate is fast(now simulating 25Mhz), the tR/tF of output become about 1ns with no cap& no load. and input rate is 10MHz, the tR/tF of output become about 5ns. is it normal or do i have some fault with simulation? I red there is nessasory time for Tpd(Tplh & Tphl) on datasheet. and i know it is severe condition for sn74hc244 buffer. but i think It is abnormal to change tR/tF at buffer. here is my simulation schemetic. please let me know any solution or idea for understanding.

Forum Post: Compiler/TMS320F28377S: __f32toui16r() saturation?
Part Number: TMS320F28377S Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler Hi all, I'm working on a C2000 with FPU using compiler version 6.4.11 and I'm using the intrinsic "__f32toui16r" often. But I can't find in documentations that this function also saturates the float value to the range of an unsigned 16bit value. Could someone verify this? Best regards,

Forum Post: RE: CCS/TMS320C6424: Code Composer V8 update installer on Windows 7 slow and not working.
Hello Chester, thank you for taking the time to add your experience. The ccs_update_8.1.0.00011.exe process starts immediately after CCS has been restarted, idles at 0% cpu usage at that time, but the actual update procedure doesn’t begin for 15 minutes or so. No disk activity and no window dialog can be seen until then. Don't want to open a discussion CCS8 vs. CCS3.3, but, to be honest, the old tools have been working nicely for us and we have been using them until 2017 for our DSP-based products, which sell in 5000+ quantities. The newer tools are full of these kind of bugs. Each day you stumble over 10 of them... :o(. And it takes so much time to somehow circumvent these kind of errors. It is really a bit sad. TI has such a great traditon in DSP-silicon. Unfortunately the later development environments don't come close. I don't know what the reason is for that. Maybe Eclipse, maybe the need for compatibility across different operating systems, maybe Java, maybe to use lower quality open source software than investing money in own developments. Ok, the installer has finished installing new CGTs and it only took 20 minutes... Best regards, Flux.

Forum Post: RE: Compiler/TMS320C6424: Cannot apply copy table operator on compiler/linker >=CGT7.3.x
Hello George, thank you for the clarification. Good and important to know that the older compilers haven’t generated incorrect program code in that case. But, I’m not sure that no one needs this feature being able to apply ‘table()’ to .cinit. Again, consider the following case: How can you test a memory system after power-on if you have already called c_int00? Calling c_int00 will initialize a lot: init runtime libraries, copy variables, etc. All that stuff must reside somewhere in the fast sdram you now want to test. How can it be done at runtime without complicated approaches? To me it seems relatively easy to do the required tests with a few lines of code and THEN copy the software from flash to ram with all sections including .cinit and then call c_int00. These kind of early system tests are a must if you’re in embedded design in industrial or medical measurement and have been done for decades. Not doing those tests at power-on seems a bit risky to me. So, I’m a bit astonished to hear TI say that no one needs 'table()' on .cinit. Given your current approach at TI, making it an error to apply ‘table()’ to .cinit, how can you do all that early system testing after power-on and having called c_int00 already? Maybe there’s also an oversight on my side which prevents using the tool’s current functionality effectively. What would you do, if a customer wants those early system tests in a product? Which way can your tools be used in that case? Best regards, Flux.

WBENCH is showing a coilcraft inductor (MSS1210-473MEB) with the following parameters - The Coilcraft datasheet shows the following parameters- It appears that the value for Isat(A) has been used in place of Irms(A). Am i reading correctly?
