I have little knowledge on the topic of changing from floating point math to fixed point math.  I understand there is quite a bit to it.  There is a small amount of material in this in the last chapter of http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/TMS320C6000_DSP_Optimization_Workshop .  As far as collateral from TI, that's probably it.
