Forum Post: Assembling assembly code with CCS 5.2.1

I feel extremely dumb asking this question on the forum, as I feel there is something very simple I am missing, but since I'm not having any luck, I'm asking here.

Since CCS does not readily support inline assembly and referencing to C variables, I am writing a small native assembly language file to handle the interface I need.  To start, I've used the example code out of the online help just to get used to the environment.  However, I can not get CCS to recognize that the assembly code needs to be assembled and then linked.  It's almost as if CCS does not recognize that the .s file is program source code.  I know this should be a simple fix, either a right click with the tab "add to build" or something like that, but I'm having no luck getting the builder to build the file I added, regardless of a .s or a .asm extension on the file.  Any ideas?  I know there just has to be some form of magic.
